Train wrist extension to protect your elbows
Most forearm routines are all flexion. That misses the muscles on top of the forearm and tilts the joint toward imbalance. Use a light barbell, rest your arms on your thighs, and curl your knuckles up toward the ceiling. Three sets of 15. A controlled negative matters more than loading. Your forearms will burn at the end. That's the point.
Add loaded hangs once your base grip is solid
Once the static work feels easy, swap 50% of it for an end-range hold. The one-arm dead hang is the bluntest test: can you hold ten seconds at bodyweight? If yes, add weight via a dip belt. Spend four to six weeks accumulating volume before you chase big weight. Small forearm muscles adapt slowly, and the tendons lag even more.

- When the load is too big, you end up jerking your wrist through a short, sloppy range. The forearms barely work, and you're just tossing the dumbbell around.

- Cut the load by 20 to 30 percent and slow the tempo down. Two seconds up, three seconds down feels completely different.

- Training forearms every day because they feel like they recover fast.
- Why
- The muscle fibers recover quickly, but the tendons and connective tissue take longer. Daily forearm work is a classic route to tendinitis.

- Give yourself 48 hours between direct forearm sessions. Two to three focused sessions per week is plenty for growth.
- Mistake
- Skipping the extensors because they aren't visible in the mirror.

- The top of the forearm holds the muscles that stabilize your wrist and grip. Neglecting them creates imbalances that show up as elbow pain and weaker pulls.

- Add reverse wrist curls and finger extensions to your routine. That covers the side you can't see and keeps the elbow healthy.
